Kosovo became eligible for assistance from the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) after their board of directors selected Kosovo for a compact program. MCC is currently implementing a $49 million grant as part of the Kosovo Threshold Program.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj announced that he spoke over the phone with the MCC’s Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Nash who confirmed that MCC selected Kosovo as eligible for a compact program. “I just got a call from the MCC Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Nash, to communicate me the extraordinary news that the MCC Board of Directors, headed by the US State Secretary, Mike Pompeo, has selected Kosovo as eligible for a compact program worth additional dozens of millions of dollars for strategic investments in infrastructure, especially in the energy sector,” Haradinaj said in a press release. According to the Government of Kosovo the new grant will be implemented in addition to the current $49 million program as part of the Kosovo Threshold Program. “I thanked Mr. Nash for this great news and I sent my best regards to the US State Secretary Pompeo, other members of the Board, and especially friends in the Congress, including Eliot Engel, who helped in communication with the MCC,” Haradinaj said. “The year 2018 is crowned with the sacred colors of the US flag and the blessed alliance of Kosovo with the US. Congratulations!” Haradinaj concluded.
