Kosovo Justice minister, Abelard Tahiri, says new Legal Package is expected to improve fight against corruption. In a Facebook post, Tahiri said that Kosovo remains committed to a rule of law state which will have direct impact on economic development of the country.
Tahiri who attended the Anti-Corruption Forum organised by American Chamber of Commerce, said that Kosovo is a new democratic state that applies a free market policies and this requires a rule of law measures to protect the principal of equal chances. “In our country according to a general perception, corruption is a tool that those violating the law use as an instrument to violate the equal chances, thus violating the basic principle of the free trade economy,” said Tahiri.
He said the ministry of Justice is drafting a new Anti-Corruption Legal Package aimed at increasing the fight against corruption, such is the Law on Preventing Conflict of Interest, Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code. He said that amending and supplementing of these laws will step up efforts in fighting organised crime and corruption.
