Parliament Speaker, Kadri Veseli, said after meeting the EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini in Brussels, that Kosovo citizens today will hear “a very good news” related to visa liberalization with the EU Schengen area.
Veseli is optimistic that the European Commission report on visas for Kosovo, expected to be published today, will give positive recommendation on lifting visas for Kosovo citizens. “Today citizens of Kosovo will hear a great news. The EU Commissioner on Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, will give positive recommendation on visas. This is the first historic step. Kosovo leaders met today the High Representative Mogherini to show that we are committed to the dialogue and prove that we stand united. We expect recognition from Serbia. We expect from the dialogue that Kosovo gets a seat at the United Nations,” Veseli said after meeting Mogherini.
Kosovo leaders including Speaker Veseli, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, and three of his deputies Behgjet Pacolli, Fatmir Limaj, and Dardan Gashi are in Brussels today when they met the High Representative Mogherini. Earlier today Mogherini has also facilitated the meeting of presidents Hashim Thaci of Kosovo and Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia in the frame of the EU-facilitated dialogue. Thaci announcing today’s meeting confirmed that Kosovo institutional leaders and partners of ruling coalition will join his team of talks and will travel to Brussels. But on Wednesday only Thaci attended the meeting with Vucic facilitated by Mogherini. The EU foreign policy chief held a separate meeting with all Kosovo leaders to discuss dialogue with Serbia, visa liberalization and progress on the EU path.
