The European Union's foreign policy chief has expressed regret over Kosovo's move to form a new army. The Parliament of Kosovo has passed on Friday legislation on transition of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) into an army.

Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson to the EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini said the EU was in agreement with NATO that the mandate of KSF "should only be changed through an inclusive and gradual process in accordance with Kosovo Constitution." She also said the EU expects Kosovo to honor the obligations deriving from the first agreement with Serbia reached in 2013 and related to security arrangements.

Ten years after declaration of Independence, Kosovo has finally decided to establish its army. The decision was taken after Kosovo MPs unanimously approved a package of laws enabling transition of KSF into Army of Kosovo.
