US Colonel of Serbian ancestry takes over command at the US Army base in Kosovo GazetaExpress

US Colonel Nick Ducich, of the California National Guard, took over the command of the US Army base in Kosovo – Bondsteel. During the handover ceremony held on Tuesday Ducich said that the role of the NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo – KFOR on offering a safe and secure environment remains the same.

After change of command ceremony within the Multinational Battle Group East (MNBG-E), Colonel Ducich assuming his duties said that this mission is of a special importance for him, because he is the first US officer of Serbian ancestry who commands the Multinational Battle Group East. “The role of KFOR remains unchanged, contribution to a safe and secure environment for all. We will continue remaining unbiased, and continue supporting developing of a safe and stable Kosovo,” he said. “This mission is of a special importance to me. I am the first US officer of Serbian ancestry, to command the Multinational Battle Group East. I am privileged to serve here and give my great contribution, for a safe environment for all people in Kosovo,” news agency Kosovapress quoted Ducich as saying.
