Fadil Vokrri, President of the Football Federation of Kosovo passed away on Thursday after experiencing a cardiac arrest.
The star of Kosovo football and President of Kosovo Football Federation, Fadil Vokrri, aged 56, died suddenly Thursday after experiencing cardiac arrest. Vokrri was president of the Football Federation of Kosovo since Kosovo declared its independence in 2008 and during his time as president, the Kosovo Football Federation joined world football bodies – UEFA and FIFA, marking full internationalization of Kosovo’s football.
In his carrier as football player, Vokrri joined FC Pristina in 1980 and played there until 1986 scoring 55 goals and making 172 appearances. During this time Pristina debuted in this first league of ex-Yugoslavia federation and Vokrri was the leader of the club. Later he joined FK Partizan from Belgrade where he scored 18 goals and had 55 appearances. He also played for Nîmes Olympique, Fenerbahce where he played for the very successful coach Guus Hiddink. In Kosovo Vokrri will be remembered for helping Kosovo football get internationally recognised after the country declared independence on 17 February 2018.
