US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale who is visiting Kosovo Saturday ruled out all speculations that relations of Kosovo and the US are escalating.
Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, David Hale, after meeting on Saturday with Kosovo's president Hashim Thaci, speaker Kadri Veseli and prime minister Ramush Haradinaj, gave an interview with three media outlets of Kosovo, Gazeta Express/T7, Koha Ditore, and Kossev. The interview which will be published in full later today, was focused on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, which according to Mr. Hale, should be concluded with “mutual recognition between the two countries.”
Hale, in the interview with Kosovo media, said that it is up to Kosovo and Serbia to agree, whereas the US will support the dialogue process. The senior US official said that Washington and the EU members in general have a common stance on solving of problems between Kosovo and Serbia.
Gazeta Express reports that the Under Secretary Hale has not commented the speculations launched recently that reportedly the US Army would withdraw from Kosovo, if the Government of Kosovo keeps resisting the US call on suspending tax on Serbian goods and obstruct the dialogue with Serbia, adding however that the US commitment to Kosovo is unchanged. “Nothing has changed in our commitment,” Hale said.
